March – Asparagus Month In Marbella
Posted on March 23rd, 2010 in English, Events, Food | Comments Off
Long considered a delicacy, asparagus is not only one of nature’s more appetising vegetables, but it is also considered to be one of the most nutritionally well-balanced, being packed full of essential vitamins and minerals. With two of the Costa del Sol’s restaurants holding their Asparagus Month of 2010 throughout the whole of March, what better way to ensure that you give your body its fill of nutritious goodness?
So if you are staying in the Costa del Sol and find your way to either of the Da Bruno Marbella or San Pedro restaurants during March, you will be presented with a whole host of delicious dishes incorporating this truly healthy vegetable. With a focus on healthy eating, the restaurants have come up with an array of mouth-watering recipes and Asparagus Month will see delights such as white and green asparagus risotto, white asparagus with parma ham, sautéed asparagus with ham and mushrooms, white and green asparagus in vinaigrette and salmon bombs and white asparagus with grilled Galician veal loin as part of their extensive menu.
Of course one of the many appeals for the British living on the Costa del Sol is the opportunity to live a healthier lifestyle and the Mediterranean cuisine is certainly some of the healthiest there is. With fresh local produce available all year round and being very competitively priced, the days of living on frozen and packaged convenience food can be waved goodbye. Local markets are ideal for picking up the week’s supply of fresh fruit and vegetables at really good prices, and of course if you’d rather eat at home, then you can always invent your own asparagus recipes or find some great ones online.
As a great source of vitamins A, B6, C, E and K, not to mention calcium, foliate, potassium, magnesium, zinc and a great many other essential nutrients, asparagus contains no cholesterol and is very low in sodium. So, why not treat yourself and your body and take part in Marbella’s Asparagus Month?
