More Costa del Sol Visitors Opting For Independent Travel

Despite more and more package tour operators scaling back their offerings in the Spanish Costas during the past couple of years, mainland Spain is still proving to be an extremely popular destination for millions of visitors. According to Ignacio Vasallo, the UK director of the Spanish Tourist Office, however, 2010 is likely to see a continuing trend towards independent travel as opposed to the more traditional package holidays.
In many ways, it is not hard to see why travelling independently to the Costa del Sol is becoming so much more popular. With a huge range of UK airports servicing flights into Malaga Airport all year round and with flight prices representing such incredible value for money, ‘going it alone’ is, for many, a far more convenient as well as a cheaper and more flexible option. Flight times can be selected to suit individual needs rather than having to settle for sometimes late night or early morning schedules which are often difficult for those travelling with young families.
Independent travel also offers the luxury of being able to choose exactly the right holiday accommodation to meet individual needs without any restrictions. Visitors are free to choose the precise location that they desire, the price range that suits their budget, the standard of the accommodation and, of course, they can ensure that their choice takes into account all the facilities that they require.
Another important thing about travelling independently is that visitors are not just tied to one destination. If they wish to split their holidays and spend one week at one resort and another somewhere different, they have the flexibility to do just that.
With direct flights to Malaga Airport offering such good value and such great convenience for travellers to the Costa del Sol, it’s hardly surprising that more and more holidaymakers are choosing to do their own thing!
